   Glasgow and Charles Rennie Mackintosh

harles Rennie Mackintosh, designer,
architect and artist was one of the most creative figures in the beginning of the 20th century. He was born in Glasgow, where most of his surving work can be found. Mackintosh's contribution to modern architecture, design and "The Glasgow Style" is unquestioned.
He designed The Glasgow School of Art (see
picture) in 1896. Today the school is still an art school and can only be visited by guided tour. The Lighthouse: this former Glasgow Herald newspaper office is now home to Scotland's Centre for Architecture and Design. The world famous Mackintosh Tower provides magnificent views across Glasgow.
