Restaurants, bistros and pubfood, places to eat!
Glasgow
has a rich variety of restaurants, pubs and bistros in wich you can not
only sample quality traditional cuisine made with the best of Scottish
produce, but also a truly international range of cooking. The Merchant
City and West End provide the main concentration of good
eating
spots,
particularly Chinese, Indian, Italian and
French restaurants. In the heart of Glasgow's West End (Ashton Lane)
you'll find The Ubiquitous Chip (see
picture), Glasgow's
most famous place to eat. This award-winning restaurant has
earned a solid reputation for it's excellent Scottish cuisine.
The last decade has seen an upsurge in sophistication and
style in Glasgow's restaurants and bistros.
If your're on a budget, for inexpensive
food, pubs and café-bars are the best
bets, serving delicious meals right through
the day and evening. The best of these are concentrated in the West End
(near the University).
